Chapter Facts

In the spring quarter of 2002, Victoria Ianni contacted Sigma Lambda Gamma National Headquarters to inquire about the expansion process. Seeing the need for representation of strong Latina women at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and in the Greek community she found that Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. best fit the ideals of a premier organization.

On August

2, 2002, she, along with a group of women, helped create and were recognized as the interest group: "Empowered Women for Change!" On February 8, 2004 the Sigma Lambda Gamma National Board of Directors granted the UCLA Sigma Lambda Gamma Colony chapter status.

The Delta Gamma chapter was established on February 12, 2004.

The Delta Gamma Chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma continues to strive for the empowerment of women at UCLA. The Delta Gamma chapter is committed to academic excellence, community service, cultural awareness, social interaction and morals and ethics; the five principles that every sister incorporates into their daily life.

Since its establishment in 2004, the chapter has gone to win various awards for its innovative programming, community outreach and leadership. Sigma Lambda Gamma's National Board has recognized the chapter multiple times for its academic excellence.
